HOW TO FIGHT WORKOUT FATIGUE

We get it — you’re tired of working out. Who isn’t?! To help, we’ve rounded up some of the best advice we could find to help you fight workout burnout.

Fatigue is a relative term. When it comes to working out, fatigue can take one of two forms: Either we’re actually, physically tired and don’t feel like working out — or else we’re simply tired of our routine and therefore can’t imagine getting on that treadmill one. more. time.

Lucky for you, there are ways to combat the all-powerful workout fatigue. Here are a few.

1. Drink Water

Dehydration can have all kinds of effects on our bodies, including weakening the flow of blood to our muscles and thereby decreasing our energy.

It’s important to stay hydrated before, during and after a workout, but if you’re feeling too sluggish to even make it to the gym, you may behind in your water consumption to begin with.

2. Have Some Caffeine

The supplements and drinks and vitamins out there that promise to up your energy levels are numerous, but before heading to your local health store to plop down too much money on something that may or may not work for you, try having a cup of coffee.

Research has shown that pre-workout caffeine in moderation is safe and can reduce perception of exercise-induced muscle pain. Plus, it gives most people a nice little pick-me-up that may be all they need to make it out on that run after all.

3. Switch It Up

If your fatigue is more of the boredom variety, the solution could be as simple as switching up what you do to work out.

If you mostly run on the treadmill, try running at your local high school track. If you’re a weight-lifting gal, try hopping on a bike for a day or two. Even a small change in your workout routine can leave you feeling energized and ready to tackle your old routine more enthusiastically.

4. Kick Up Your Cardio

Experts suggest that adding short bouts of vigorous cardio is a great way to help recharge those depleted workout batteries.

All you need is 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous aerobic exercise to start feeling the effects on both your mood and energy levels, and may be just what you need to get excited about working out again.
